Sunday 17 March 2024: CRT-1 Scramble, Report and Results.

We had 29 player on the 2024 Colin Rolls Trophy “Scramble” start list for Sunday 17th of  March 2024. Unfortunately one player got the starting time wrong so eventually 28 players turned up for the first CRT events of the year. Each of the four teams had a minimum of 3 pairs playing and additionally two teams had a single player. The weather forecast predicting of rain from 11:00 – fortunately shifted to late afternoon so the CRT-1 was  played under fair conditions with temperatures around 12 Deg. C and only a few drops of rain.

The best pair score was recorded by Gijs and Reno with 49 St. P. followed by Ineke/Marga and Garry/Joe – both with 48 St. P. The best team score counting the two best score per team, was recorded by the “Babes and the Boys with 95 St.P.” followed by the “Friday’s Men” with 93 St. P., the “Mulligans”  with 87 St. P. and finally the “Andy Caps” with 82 St. P. All pair and team results can be found attached.

Highlights:

In this year’s CRT-1, the first 10 pair had scores between 40 and 49 St. P./pair and the average score for all 15 pair flights can be reported to be 41.7, somewhat lower than reported in 2023 of 43,8. Interesting here is the pair average handicap which increased in 2024 to 19.5 compare to 18.4 in 2023! However as we nearly had the same group of player as last year, we may conclude that the poor weather reduced training in 2024 and everyone got  one year older, possible some reasons for the drop in performance! Finally it was great to see 9 lady players participating, until now, other EGC events in 2024 only had one or maximum two ladies to participate.

Autumn Social Scramble: 29 October 2023 – Report and Results

The fourth 2023 EGC social scramble competition, the Autumn Social Scramble, took place on 29 October 2023 with 24 players in 8 different 3-balls flights/teams – using the red tees and playing Strokeplay from scratch. The weather was fair and dry and we luckily avoided rain during play, however, the course was quite wet!

The best team score was recorded by Team-2 with an incredible score of 57 or -1, and fancy wrapped Appassimento wine was presented to the winners: Rafael Lucas Rodriguez, Garry Gould and Cornelia Svedhem-Backer. The second best Team score was recorded by Team 6, Brian, Clare and Joachim with 63 and a better back 9 followed by team 3, with Alexander, Marga and Bernard also with 63 but one stroke more on the back 9. All team scores can be found attached.

After a short prize giving at ESCAPE, all players socialized over a free drink and pizza slices offered by the club, followed by another drink offered by the winning team (see attached photo).
