On Saturday and Sunday the 13th and 14th
September the Club Championship took place.
In some late summer weather and on a course that is in
excellent condition, 39 players started in good spirit to determine this year’s winner.
At the end of the day one Paul McNamara (65) took the lead,
with Erik van Ginkel trailing by one point. David Binns and Raffaele Tosellini
was 3rd and 4th.
The best lady on day one was Geraldine Doeswijk Kavanagh on
73.
Noteworthy
is that Alexandre Michalski a junior player, playing of 36 also made the cut with a 85. Nice to see
the youngster playing some good golf.
After round 2 played early on Sunday morning the leader
board was Paul McNamara (130) Alex Jeanes (137) and Erik on 138.
Alex Jeanes (64), Paul McNamara (65) and Andrew Murrell (67)
posted the best scores for the second round.
At 14:00 the 3rd and final round started. Andrew Murrell (66) David Binns (69) and Rafael Lucas (70) were the best in
the afternoon. But a 72 by Paul was good enough to win the 2014 Club
Championship for the 4th time in a row. Paul ended up on 202 David Binns on 210 and Alex Jeanes on 211,
ending up 2nd and 3rd.
Geraldine ended up as best lady on 229 tied for the 8th
place overall.
Alexandre Michalski continued to play well, with a 80 in the
3rd round. He ended up tied
for 22nd place.
I would like to thank all players that participated, Brian
Taylor for helping with the organisation and
scorecards, and last but not least for the people behind the bar for serving
a warm cup of soup and enough sandwiches for us all on the Sunday.
From the money collected for the entry fee, and money in the
piggy, I am glad to say we collected another € 230 euros that will be donated
to the Charity of the year.
